It's Really Starting!
Part of me still can't believe it's finally getting done after all this time I've been wanting to go through with this but never did. It has been over a year now since the first time I attempted to make a site for myself and it fell through quite quickly. This time though I actually have a base set up, a template to use, actually have a few pages and now a spot for me to start putting blog posts at least until I figure out a better way to set it all up!
It doesn’t feel real yet here it is. I can see it for myself looking on my phone and seeing what’s on my iPad and it makes it so exciting. That is the thing for this place. I’m trying to set all of this stuff up using just my iPad so I apologize if it makes it take a little longer and a bit messy as I get things going.
Found a program called Visual Code I’m using to help me do some web testing, though a lot is still being done in the base browser editor of Neocities itself. And for blog posts like this? Using Scrivener so I have an actual spell check and I’ve gotten quite used to it. Testing out using a site I found for adding the html later called html-online and any manual edits I need later.
Thought it wouldn’t hurt as I figure this out sharing how I’m trying to accomplish all this. Everyone making their own personal site are all just doing this together and it’s better to support and share than I think keep it to ourselves.
I’m thinking one day when I get a real feeling of what I want this to be I’ll make the site css and template it use all on my own using what I’ve learned for what I like and dislike about the template I’m currently using to grow. But I think doing that first will be the downfall to actually getting started. It’s what I originally tried to do in the first place, so I can only assume it’s in part why I never got this far while this time I got a template and I’ve actually got something going!
Speaking on that I can’t say I know exactly what I do want with all this. I got ideas for personal areas, places to share art, journal about media, a lot of things but who knows what are ideas that will stay and which will fail. I have no reason to not try them all until I figure out what I really want! No way else to learn.
Just is exciting to finally get an entry up on here. I plan to later add journal entries that are modifications of things I’ve posted on tumblr in the past, but for now may we grow towards the future!
